Are your healthy eating decisions affected by someone you live with? This is a common problem we see with our members here at the gym. Some of them would like to eat healthier food at home but since other members of the household are not making the same choices, they end up eating unhealthy food.

However, you should never use this as an excuse. Rather, you should encourage those around you to make healthy choices as well. The best way to do this is by introducing small changes to the diet. This will work well for kids. Do not adopt the all or nothing mindset we talked about in a previous episode.

Leading by example is a powerful way to influence people to adopt smart choices. Start by making these small changes that will slowly influence other people. Communicating with your spouse and children on why it is important to make healthier choices will also hopefully help influence them.  Lastly, you should stand your ground and do what’s best for your family.
